Family photography in the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Gardens in Castlemaine are always a beautiful backdrop for family photos and an easy meeting point for me if you’re coming from Melbourne or the Macedon Ranges. The key strategic point is to not show the kids the playground here before the session - we’ll meet far enough away that they can’t spot that iconic red train! The gardens are also really accessible if that’s a requirement for your family - easy parking, mostly flat, and minimal sensory issues like sun in eyes/long grass/loud noises. Also - all the pretty light here.
This is a great example of incorporating some colour - orange always sings with a green background and if you really want to deep dive into colour theory - that cornflower blue makes the perfect triad with the green. Blue is a super popular option for lots of families - balance it out with some deep dark green and some pops of orange and you’re away. All that to say - don’t be afraid of colour when you’re figuring out what to wear for your family photos! And I’m always happy to help in the lead up to your session.
