This delicious little squish is my niece and her mum is my sister. We now reflect that despite fighting like rabid hyenas throughout much of the 1990s and 2000s, we were clever enough to choose professions that are extremely useful to one another. She’s a GP, and a bloody good one based on how often I get stopped asking whether she’s back from mat leave yet (she is). Admittedly she’s more useful, but we’re not splitting hairs. My children now fight like hungry tigers in a Roman colosseum, so I tell myself: there is hope.
I love photographing other people’s families and babies but it is an extra special privilege in photographing your own, and keep my Mum happy with a steady supply of the most important Nan currency: photos of the grand babies. There is also a certain ease in barking “lift your head a bit I can see eleventy billion chins” which isn’t how I usually talk to clients.
Harriet turned one on the weekend and has been a ray of sunshine in a sad year for our family - we are so excited to watch the mischief she brings to the cousin gang of four.
